Google released its international search data for 2018 on Wednesday, December 12.
The royal wedding was one of the major interests for people around the world on 2018 and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and a retired American actor who became a member of the British royal family upon her marriage to Prince Harry, became the top search globally in the People category. Popular American singer Demi Lovato and Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone came in second and third place respectively.
Bangladesh search analytics of Google for 2018 shows the most searched person was Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović who turned into a social media phenomenon in this year’s Fifa world cup. Croatia suffered a 4-2 loss against France in the FIFA World Cup 2018 final but she was seen exchanging hugs with smiling face with players of both teams including the French President Emmanuel Macron. Priya Prakash Varrier, the winking girl from the video of the song titled “Manikya Malaraya Poovi” from the Malayalam film “Oru Adaar Love,” came into second place in Bangladeshi searches in People category.
Meghan Markle came in third place on the same list.
The only two Bangladeshis who made into the Top 10 of the People category in Bangladesh are BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Internet sensation Hero Alam, who made to ninth and tenth place respectively.
