Kill the rumour mills, veteran actor and national treasure ATM Shamsuzzaman is not dead. Contrary to several reputed news channels and portals including Ekattor TV, he was reported to have passed away Monday night.
The actor, alive and kicking, and a little angry at the rumourmongers, appeared on Facebook live and directed his frustrations.
“Channel Ekattor is an important channel. I cannot comprehend how someone like them could be so irresponsible about reporting my death without checking up with my family” as he proceeded to read out his phone number for future reference.
This is not the first time rumours of his death surfaced. According to his nephew Asif Zaman, the actor was also rumoured to be dead back in April this year. Even as early as August 2012, rumours of his death were circulating on social media.
Despite his age, ATM Shamsuzzaman is still alive and playing his role to perfection. We hope to see him carry on with his cutting humour for many more years.
