Model, actor Asif arrested after wife accuses him of physical harassment

Model, actor Kazi Asif Rahman has been arrested after his wife Mimah Shah Aroni accused him of physically torturing her. Superintendent of Hazaribagh police station Fakhrul Islam arrested Asif from his Dhanmondi residence on Sunday night. The matter was confirmed by Asif’s wife Aroni and Hazaribagh police station Superintendent Rajib. Rajib said: “We received a warrant from the court after Asif’s wife lodged a case against him under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Later we arrested Asif and produced him in front of a court.” Aroni complained that other than physically abusing her, Asif was also not giving her the respect she deserved as a wife. “I filed a case against Asif under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on March 3,” she said. “He was not giving me or our child the rights we deserved. He even physically abused me a number of times.” Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal confirmed that Asif’s bail hearing will take place on April 25. Asif and Aroni married in 2015.
