Metal band Self Portrait is releasing their 2nd studio album “Odhikar.” A launching ceremony will take place on April 20 where the band will perform all the tracks from the album along with songs from their previous album “Tomra Ebong Prithibi” (2013).
There will be other bands like Warsite, Naive, Blue Jeans, Plasmic Knock, EF, Exenemy, The Arch, Ojantrik, Virtuad, Nival, Koishor and The Inside who will be performing at the event.
The album contains 9 tracks. It was recorded at Noizemine Studio. The radio launch of the album took place on April 18.
Self Portrait is a metal band with a slight progressive touch, started in 2006. The band consists of four members Ekram (drums), Rangon (guitar), Ratul (guitar), Saikat (vocals and bass). In 2010, they won best band award in the underground band competition “King of the Ring.”
The band’s guitarist, Rangon, told Showtime: “It (the second album) is compositionally a bit more matured than the previous one. We pre-recorded the album to judge how it sounds so it’s very well recorded, mixed and mastered. One of the major differences is the lineup change. Our current vocalist used to play bass in the band before, but now he is both bassist and vocalist. Lyrics of the previous album were more about feelings, but on this album we brought up some strong issues like human rights, religion, emptiness etc.”
“Odhikar” will be available on YouTube, Gaan, Itunes, Spotify and Gpmusic. The album launch will take place at Russian Cultural Center, Dhanmondi.
