
The names of winning artistes and film professionals in 26 categories in the National Film Award 2016 were declared through a notice on the Information Ministry website on Thursday.
“Oggatonama - The Unnamed,” directed by Tauquir Ahmed won the award for best film, and Farida Akhter (Bobita) and Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooque, were honored by the lifetime achievement award.
The film “Aynabaji” bagged the most awards by winning seven titles, including Amitabh Reza Chowdhury as best director, Rashed Zaman as best cinematographer, and Chanchal Chowdhury as best actor in a lead role, for the same film.
Moreover, Afroza Imrose Tisha and Kusum Sikder jointly won the title of best female actor in a lead role for the films “Ostitto” and “Shankhachil” respectively.
SM Kamrul Ahsan’s “Ghraan” won the best short film award, while Ekattor Media Limited and Liberation War Museum jointly won the best documentary film award for their co-production titled “Jonmosathi,” directed by Shabnam Ferdousi.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hand these awards very soon to the winners of these 26 categories of films which were released in 2016.
