The captivating “Thessali Noir” track opens in broody fashion with low-slung drums and a moody vocal from Shahin Badar, who has also sung on classics like the Prodigy’s “Smack My Bitch Up.”
The voice of Badar really explodes into life mid way through bringing a trippy Middle Eastern vibe to proceedings. It makes for a sombre and atmospheric track with rugged bass riffs that will cast real spells on the floor.
Gemini Brothers, Ionut and Razvan, are actual twins who count dons like Andrew Weatherall, Ewan Pearson and Psychemagik amongst their fans. They fill their cuts with slap-funk percussive patterns and psychedelic tropes that never fail to stand out.
Born to a Bangladeshi father and Indian mother, Badar is one of the most distinctive crossover commercial female Asian artists in the UK Music scene. She has two fantastic creditable albums to her name, Laila and Destiny. Bringing innovation to all her tracks she has teamed up with mainstream and Bollywood producers such as AR Rahman and electronic big beat giants, The Prodigy.
Badar’s vocals have already featured in more than 30 Hollywood and Bollywood films, including Academy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe Award nominated Closer, and Academy Award nominated Charlie’s Angels, Lloyds Scottish widows advert, US sitcoms North Shore and Kevin Hill, as well as Shyam Benegal’s Zubeidaa.
