Update : 01 Feb 2018, 09:34 PM
Bangladeshi short film “Puppet” directed by independent filmmaker Razib Ahsan has reached the semifinals of Russian Film Festival 2018 at Moscow. The director told Showtime: “These achievements inspire me. I want to take my films all around the world to more international festivals. I’m working on that goal.” Razib’s “Puppet” is based on the play “The Dumb Waiter,” written by renowned British playwright Harold Pinter. The film premiered at the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival and was also officially screened at more than 15 international film festivals. Furthermore, it was selected for the Toronto International Independent Film Festival this last year. Razib is currently busy shooting his debut feature film, “Namhin Gotrohin,” based on the 1971 liberation war which is slated to release on December 2018 keeping the month of victory in mind. The film is based on a short story of the same title written by eminent author Hasan Azizul Huq. The storyline depicts a story of how a common man saw the war one night during 1971. The project primarily received funding for a short film from the Bangladesh government last year. But the film’s director and producer later on decided to release the film in both a short and a feature length version. They’re currently shooting both versions at once.
