According to a recent report in Rolling Stone, a television spin-off of the “John Wick” film franchise titled ‘The Continental’ is currently in works. The series will focus on the Continental Hotel, which serves as a refuge for assassins in the “John Wick” universe.
The franchise’s films portray the story of a retired hitman seeking vengeance. The film features Keanu Reeves in the title role.
Produced by Lionsgate, the franchise’s two films “John Wick” (2014) and “John Wick: Chapter 2” (2017) earned more than $300 million worldwide. The third film is set for release in May 2019.
The TV spin-off is being produced by Starz where Keanu Reeves have a cameo appearance. The first episode will be directed by Chad Stahelski, who helmed the first two films and is working on the third.
Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement, “'The Continental' promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shoot-outs between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick film franchise as well as introduce some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”
