71 year old Bangladeshi actor and filmmaker Siraj Haider passed away at his home in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur on Thursday morning. His son Lenin Haider told the press that the popular actor died from a heart attack.
Lenin also said that his father suddenly felt chest pain from Wednesday night and died before they could take him to the hospital in the morning.
Haider is survived by his wife Mina Haider who is also an actor, his two sons and a daughter. Haider’s sudden demise has saddened his fans, family and friends.
Haider started his 55 year long acting career back in 1962 when he was in class IX. Haider made his debut with the film “Shukher Shongshar” where he played the role of an antagonist. He was a stage performer before that. He also directed two films.
Haider’s remains were taken to the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) for a funeral service after Thursday’s Zuhr prayers. Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, president of BFDC said these to the press.
Haider will be laid to rest in his village in Munshiganj.
