Update : 29 Oct 2017, 11:56 PM
Fresh allegations of sexual assault arise, as Sopranos’ star Annabella Sciorra comes forward and claims to have been raped by Harvey Weinstein, in the 1990s, after he forced his way into her apartment. In the light of several new allegations coming into the light against the movie mogul, more than 50 victims of sexual assault have come forward and spoken against him, including Sciorra and Daryl Hannah. Allegations range from unwanted advances to rape. The actors' quotes were first published in a report in the New Yorker, one of the outlets that first broke stories about accusations against him. Sciorra told the reporter of the New Yorker, Ronan Farrow, that Weinstein “shoved” her on to her bed and they had non-consensual sexual intercourse. “I kicked and I yelled,” she said. Sciorra told also said that she did not inform the police because she feared Weinstein would “destroy” her career. Hannah, who starred in films including Kill Bill and Splash, recalled fleeing her hotel room from Weinstein. He demanded to be let in her room. “It was sort of incessant, and then it started turning into pounding on my door,” she said. The following evening, she alleged she had to barricade the door with furniture to prevent him from coming in. She also said that he had a key to Hannah’s room and let himself in unannounced, while Hannah was watching a film with a colleague. Weinstein has been fired from his own company and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A spokeswoman for Weinstein, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment, later, in a statement to the New Yorker said: “Mr Weinstein unequivocally denies any allegations of non-consensual sex.”
