On-screen GoT romance turns into real engagement

Update : 27 Sep 2017, 04:42 PM

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie have officially confirmed their engagement with a traditional announcement.

The actors, both 30, announced their forthcoming nuptials with a notice placed in The Times on September 27, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Times notice read: "The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire."

The couple played onscreen lovers Jon Snow and Ygritte on Game of Thrones starting in 2012. Leslie left the cast two years later with Harington's fan-favorite Snow appearing in seven seasons.

According to the Business Insider, Harington and Leslie began dating in 2012 shortly after meeting on the set of Game of Thrones.

The couple has kept their on-and-off relationship very private for years before finally going public in 2016. They only made their public debut as a couple at last year's Olivier Awards.

According to the BBC News, Harrington told the L' Uomo Vogue: "If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love."

Leslie is currently starring in US television series The Good Fight. Harington will next be seen in the BBC's drama Gunpowder, about the gunpowder plot, before he starts filming the next and final season of Game of Thrones.
