Taapsee Pannu seeking to become a Bollywood A-lister

Earlier this year Taapsee wrote a moving post on Facebook claiming how actors in Bollywood “refused to work” with her because she is not an A-list actress. Taapsee Pannu has done some different and interesting work during her Hindi cinema career. She made her debut in her film career in South Indian cinema and claims that it is not easy for her bagging a good project in Bollywood, and has a long way to go before she can be on the list of sought-after artists in the film industry. 30-year-old Taapsee received critical acclaim for her performances in the film Pink and Baby. Yet she said that she still doesn’t know how she can make the cut. In an interview with PTI, she said: “There will always be a time when there will be people better than you and also not as good as you. I still don’t consider myself an A-lister. I don’t know what will make me a part of it.” Though she has been praised and lauded for her amazing portrayals on different projects, she is still getting used to the rejections. She explains that it isn’t that she doesn’t get rejected now but she’ll get rejected in the future too. She said that she is slowly adapting to it. She admitted that there would be times when she might replace someone else and sometimes it will be the other way around. She also added that she told herself that this is the ‘rule of the game’ in Bollywood and she’s slowly and steadily getting better at it. It’ll happen to her till the end of her career she fears, and she is learning to be thick skinned about it. Taapsee Pannu is currently busy promoting her film Judwaa 2. The film is a reboot of the 1997 hit film Judwaa, which starred Salman Khan in a double role. In Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan will be reprising Salman’s role. One of the main reasons she took the role in this film is to surprise the audience with her character choice and avoid getting typecast. She also explained how no one knew she was even in the film Baby. And during Pink, everyone thought that it was about Amitabh Bachchan, but turned out to be something totally different. Judwaa 2 is scheduled to release on September 29.
