DW started broadcasting in high-definition in Bangladesh

Tobias Grote-Beverborg, DW Distribution Executive South Asia, unveiled Deutsche Welle HD for Asian viewers at Hotel Westin in the capital, recently.

The DW HD channel will include the same schedule of quality programming on the same Asia Sat 7 satellite, with a new frequency, and will be unencrypted (free-to-air). The former SD channel will continue to be broadcast as before.

At the opening ceremony, Beverborg said, “DW continues to deliver the best experience for our audience in Bangladesh and HD is an essential part of this.” The move to HD is a big part of DW’s new strategy to increase its presence in Bangladesh and, to expand its audience.
