Update : 20 Nov 2016, 06:13 PM

In Bangladesh, Bauls have a lot of contribution in shaping our individual philosophies, and their practices of secular culture tend to hold the flag of mankind, the speakers of the Dhaka Lit Fest, agreed on the notion at a session held at Bangla Academy's Bottola, yesterday noon. Folk singers Arup Rahee, Mehedi Hasan Nill, and Shofi Mondol served as panelists at the session.

Arup Rahee said, “We see various types of truth existing due to the colonial rule which culminated the colonial mindset. For this reason, we have lost our own truth.”

He also said the philosophies of our sub-continent are divided into seven schools like Shongho, Buddist, Joyeno, and so on.

Mehedi Hasan Nill said, “Consciousness is the main reason which proves that we are alive. Castes differ from country to country but a man's heart is his own.”

We lost our folk culture and traditions because of colonial ruling,” he added.

Shofi Mondol talked about the notion of semblance of truth in religion, “Every religion has similar kind of truth of being humankind.”
