The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined Tk62 lakh to eight illegal brick kilns in Gazipur's Kaliganj on Monday.
During the day-long drive, led by DoE Executive Magistrate Kazi Tamjid Ahmed, the illegal brick kilns were bulldozed.
Six brick kilns in Kaliganj municipality were fined Tk50 lakh. Two others were fined Tk6 lakh each.
Magistrate Ahmed said their drives against illegal brick kilns would continue.
