Committee Convener Sheikh Muhammad Sahidullah, Member Secretary Anu Muhammad and other leaders and activists of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Basad), and other leftist parties attended the sit-in.

“The government should retreat from the decision to build Rampal power plant, considering the welfare of the country, its people, and the Sundarbans,” Sheikh Muhammad Sahidullah said.
Construction work on the 1,320MW coal-based power plant will begin at the end of March amid protest from environmentalists.
