DoE fines two RMG factories for pollution in Chittagong

The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined two readymade garment (RMG) factories in Chittagong with Tk5.18 lakh for polluting the environment on Monday. The factories – M/s Global Garments Ltd and M/s Men’s Fashion Ltd – were reportedly causing environment pollution by releasing toxic liquid effluents. M/s Men’s Fashion Ltd was fined with Tk4.38 lakh and M/s Global Garments Ltd with Tk80, 000. Sangjucta Das Gupta, assistant director of DoE (Chittagong Metropolitan), said: “Following a hearing, DoE slapped the fine on the factories on Monday.”
