Another cold spell likely in last week of January

Another spell of mild to moderate cold is likely to hit Bangladesh in the last week of January. "The current spell of mild cold wave is likely to continue in some regions of the country throughout the month of January. But the current spell of the cold wave may turn into a mild to moderate one in the last week of the month," Md Shahinul Islam, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), said on Monday. "Today [Monday], the mild cold wave is sweeping over Khulna, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions and at some places of Tangail and Faridpur districts," he said. The BMD, in its forecast on Monday, said moderate to thick fog may occur over the country from midnight to tomorrow morning and it may continue in some places up to noon. However, the weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies. Night temperatures may fall slightly and day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged throughout Bangladesh. The minimum temperature of the country on Monday was recorded at 7.8°C at Rajarhat in Rangpur division and the maximum temperature was at 25.1°C celsius in Sylhet division.
