All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay and deep sea have been asked to remain close to the coast until further notice.
‘Vardah’, the cyclonic storm, was 1,230km south of Chittagong Port and 1,150 km south of Cox’s Bazar port on Thursday morning, a Met office bulletin said.
It was 1,255 km south of Mongla port and 1,200 km South of Payra port.
The storm is likely to intensify further and move in a north or northwest, the Met office added.
Maximum wind speed within 54km of the cyclone centre is about 62kph and may rise to 88kph.
The sea will remain “very rough” near the cyclone centre, the bulletin warned.
