In pictures: Metro rail races through Agargaon-Motijheel route

The highly anticipated trial run of the metro rail from Agargaon to Motijheel kicked off on Friday, marking a major milestone for the project.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the test run at around 4:38pm, setting the wheels in motion.

Metro train has 24 sets of six coaches. Each metro train has a maximum passenger carrying capacity of 2,308 and a capacity of 60,000 passengers per hour and 5000,000 passengers per day.
