To mark Genocide Day, the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee took out a 53-torch procession at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.
They demanded the international community recognize the brutal killing on March 25, 1971, by Pakistani Army as genocide.
On Saturday, Bangladesh observed Genocide Day recalling the brutalities of the Pakistan Army during Operation Searchlight, as a last resort to try and suppress the will of the people of what would become, in less than nine months, an independent Bangladesh.
The photos were taken by Dhaka Tribune’s photographer Mehedi Hasan on Saturday.
