Bangladesh Army has been deployed in Sylhet on Friday, to combat the worsening flood situation in the district.
The government has tasked the troops to rescue marooned residents and relocate them to temporary shelters, provide medical assistance, and facilitate the maintenance of food godowns, power stations, and other services.
The troops have been stationed in Sylhet Sadar, Companiganj, Gowainghat of Sylhet district and five upazilas - Sunamganj Sadar, Chhatak, Jamalganj, Dirai, Dowarabazar of Sunamganj.
