Hundreds of boats are sold at a market in Ghior upazila of Manikganj, locally known as "Ghior Dinghy Noukar Haat," from morning till dusk. Apart from Manikganj district, buyers from different areas including Tangail, Sirajganj and Dhaka come to the market. Since the beginning of the monsoon, a huge number of boats have been sold in the market. Due to the flow of Padma, Jamuna, Dhaleshwari, Ichhamati and Kaliganga rivers through Manikganj, river-water easily enters different areas and areas downstream go underwater during high tide. As a result, boats get easy passage. That is why before monsoon every year the craftsmen get more orders to make boats.
