In pictures: Eid holidaymakers continue to leave Dhaka defying Covid-19 safety guidelines

With just one day left before the Eid-ul-Fitr, people on Sunday, May 24, 2020, continued to leave capital Dhaka for their ancestral homes to celebrate the holiday with their families -- defying government issued health and safety guidelines and restrictions on movement aimed to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The surge in the crowd increased from Sunday morning, as Bangladesh is all set to celebrate the Eid on Monday amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. These photos were taken at the Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry terminal in Mawa, Munshiganj.
