The charred Haji Wahed Mansion, a four-storey building in Old Dhaka’s Churihatta area, stands as a reminder of the devastating fire that took place a year ago claims lives of 71 people and injuring scores more. After the fire broke out around 10:30pm on February 20, 2019, it spread to the adjoining buildings, which housed numerous shops and warehouses with alleged stockpiles of flammable chemicals.
