The Marma community of Khagrachhari is enjoying Sangrai, their New Year celebration, with great zest and vibrant rituals.
The Mongol Shobhajatra of Khagrachhari was brought out on Sunday morning. It started at the Pankhaiyapara area.
After crossing several areas of the city, participants of the Mongol Shobhajatra and other members of the community gathered in Pankhaiyapara for various activities such as a water throwing ceremony and other cultural programs.
The area was crowded with visitors from other cities who came to Khagrachhari to enjoy the festivities.
Khagrachhari Superintendent of Police (SP), Ahmaruzzaman, said security has been strengthened in the area with the celebrations in mind.
This grand celebration will continue for another two days.
