The 2023 Cannes Film Festival is officially underway bringing a wide selection of films that includes both competition and out-of-competition categories.The highest prize awarded at the Cannes festival is the Palme d'Or. Here is the list of the top Palme d'Or winning films from across the world available on OTT platforms:

1. Taxi Driver

Available on “Sony Liv” the Martin Scorsese film is a portrait of post-Vietnam War America. Taxi Driver won the Palme d'Or in 1976.

2. Dheepan 

Jacques Audiard's story is set in the underbelly of modern-day Paris centred on a Sri Lankan refugee who is a former LTTE soldier. The movie available for streaming on Netflix involves three strangers, a man, a woman and a little girl, seeking political asylum in a foreign country won the Palme d'Or in 2015. 

3. Pulp Fiction 

The Quentin Tarantino film emerged as a model modern American film, redefining genres of both crime and comedy. Pulp Fiction won the Palme d'Or in 1994 and is available to stream on Netflix. 

4. Sex, Lies and Videotape

Then 26-year-old Steven Soderbergh became the youngest solo filmmaker to win the Palme d'Or for this movie. The movie is about a woman unable to be physically intimate with her husband finding comfort in a guest with a strange secret. The entire screenplay of Sex, Lies and Videotape in a matter of eight days while on a cross-country trip and taking all of a month to shoot the film. The film is available on Netflix.

5. Triangle of Sadness

Ruben Östlund became the eighth filmmaker in history to win the Palme d'Or award twice for his 2022 film. The movie is about out of touch wealthy people and influencers who struggle as their luxury cruise ship is hit by a brutal storm.
