Vendors fined Tk51,000 in Jhenaidah

Market monitoring to continue to ensure the consumers' rights, say officials

The authorities in Jhenaidah on Wednesday fined two vendors for selling soybean oil at higher prices during a routine monitoring drive in Jhenaidah's Payra Chattor and KP Basu Street.

The shops were fined Tk50,000 and Tk1,000 for irregularities by Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Additional Director Ziaul Haq.

Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Jhenaidah unit President Aminur Rahman Tuku and local police were present during the operation.

The drives would continue in order to ensure the rights of the consumers, said Ziaul Haq.
