We congratulate the Access to Information Program, or a2i, on winning the World Summit on the Information Society awards for the seventh consecutive time, with two of its projects being declared champions in two separate categories.
The a2i program, under the ICT and Cabinet Divisions with support from the UNDP, seeks to innovate the way public service is delivered to citizens with the goal of improving citizens’ lives through transparency, efficiency, and overall improved governance, and is undoubtedly one of the most commendable initiatives taken by the government.
During the pandemic, a2i’s initiatives have allowed for the introduction of virtual classes on technical and vocational subjects for the youth, providing them with opportunities to obtain the necessary skills required for success and contribute further to the nation’s development.
The two projects under a2i which were declared as champions were EkShop -- Bangladesh’s first assisted rural e-commerce platform, providing essential items to Bangladesh’s remote rural areas -- and the Collective Intelligence Platform for Skills, Employment, and Entrepreneurship -- a one-stop collaboration hub which connects job-seekers and skill-seekers with industries and training service providers.
These initiatives provide a glimpse into the future of Digital Bangladesh, using technology and innovative approaches to ensure that the people of this country receive the services required to improve their lives and to contribute to their society and country.
The a2i program stands as an example of what we can achieve with the resources and skills we have, and we hope that it continues to inspire the youth of this nation towards finding innovative solutions to the problems which Bangladeshis face today, as we tackle unprecedented challenges.
