The recent explosion in Beirut, Lebanon has left not just the country, but the world in shock.
Shocking video footage has been seen my most by now, which shows the explosion seeming to engulf the entire area with literal shockwaves, destroying everything in its path.
In the aftermath, it has come to light that at least 135 people have lost their lives, more than 5,000 have been injured, and over quarter of a million people have been left without homes fit to live -- a most devastating state of affairs.
With rescue teams working round the clock, it is expected that the number of people dead and injured will rise in the coming few days, and could very well turn out to be a “killer blow for Beirut,” as one survivor put it.
Our condolences and thoughts are with the ones who perished and we hope that the historical city of Beirut is able to recover from this most devastating blow.
Our nation of Bangladesh is here to offer any help the country might need in this time of crisis, and we commend the authorities for being ready to offer emergency assistance to Beirut.
We have already sent emergency food and medical supplies to the city, and stand ready to offer any other additional assistance they might need in this troubling time.
With the coronavirus pandemic already raging through the world, now is the time for all of us to come and work together and extend a helping hand to our fellow human beings without whom surviving this time would have been impossible.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Beirut, as they rebuild and recover from this destruction.
