It is saddening to see that, as the coronavirus pandemic rips through our population and most of us are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and our loved ones, there are people who are capitalizing on the current crisis and selling fake health care products.
The existence of such products on the market is not only criminal, but now poses a great risk to public health and safety and must be stopped immediately.
There are people out there who have been responsible enough to procure masks and other forms of personal protective equipment and have been diligent enough to maintain proper hygiene with the help of sanitizers. To now think that many amongst them have been duped into believing they are protected with fake heath care products is unacceptable and those responsible have shown an utter disregard for human life and safety.
Over the last few weeks, law enforcement has discovered multiple locations where such products were being produced, which means that there are most likely many more just like these, flooding our country with products which endanger people’s lives.
In fact, considering the fact that such products can actively cause harm to their users, those responsible for their existence must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and punished.
Additionally, there must be a proactive effort to raise awareness among retailers and the public to ensure that these products are bought from trusted sources, and that only genuine products reach the market.
If immediate action is not taken in this regard, even the most careful of citizens will find themselves infected by the virus, and exponentially increase the rate at which confirmed cases are rising in our country.
