Get the resources

Update : 10 Sep 2017, 07:47 PM
The UN’s claim that they do not have enough resources to help the fleeing Rohingya is unacceptable. Bangladesh continues to do everything it can to help the Rohingya by opening its borders and providing food, shelter, and medical assistance. And Bangladesh has done this without any international assistance whatsoever. And while the world witnesses the worst humanitarian crisis of recent times, the audacity of the UN to claim that they do not have the means to help those escaping ethnic cleansing is a slap in the face of humanity. But such problems are not insurmountable. We have witnessed similar crises in the past which the world was able to find swift resolution for with the appropriate measures. All that was necessary was for the world to act. As countless Rohingya flee persecution and what can no longer be deemed anything less than an ethnic cleansing, it has become imperative that the world take a stand and leave politics out of the equation. While Bangladesh has gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide refuge to the Rohingya, it cannot bear this burden alone. Not having “enough resources” is not a viable excuse. If the UN does not have the resources, then it needs to start acquiring them fast. As it stands, the international community has already taken too long -- if it waits any longer, there will not be any Rohingya left to save.
