The US administration continues to isolate itself from European recognition of the Palestinian state to satisfy the Israeli government and alleviate criticism from the pro-Israel lobby in America. However, the Biden administration cannot explicitly disclose its true position. How?
America warns Israel on a daily basis that its settlement policies are leading to isolation, even from countries considered under the umbrella of America and NATO. This has been evident in votes in the Security Council and the General Assembly, where Israel's isolation, and consequently America's, has become apparent.
America says that the Palestinian state should be achieved through direct negotiations between the parties. However, as the superpower and protector of Israel, supporting its hardline stance and denial of Palestinian rights, America acknowledges that the chances of negotiating a state seem impossible. How can it be achieved under these circumstances?
America in the election season, the season of appeasing Israel and its supporters, pursues a contradictory logic in the matter of the Palestinian state. Publicly, it supports the Israeli position rejecting the principle of establishing a Palestinian state, particularly by showing its reservations about recognitions from European countries. However, this stance also serves as a practical demonstration of its warnings to the Israeli government about potential isolation, and indicates the "cowardice and hypocrisy" of a superpower that wants order but continues to protect Israel, even if it is contrary to its own interests.
Perhaps, instead of saying America does not want the establishment of a Palestinian state, it is more accurate to say that America wants a Palestinian state that aligns absolutely with its specifications and ensures Israel's satisfaction. This means that America has effectively delegated the matter to Israel and merely follows its lead in this regard.
