Out with the pain, in with the love

The Pink Box brings a range of female hygiene products and much more

Update : 08 Mar 2020, 08:14 PM

Period is still a hush hush word. There’s no class distinction when it comes to periods. Females, young to old, cry out internally once every month because they can’t be vocal about their menstrual pain. Many incidents make the taboo clearer: sanitary napkins are still wrapped in papers because it is considered a shame to openly walk with it in public; while purchasing any feminine products, customers have to look around and ask for the product in hushed voices. With such stigma prevalent in the society, access to health safety and hygiene becomes absolutely impossible for women.

In the pursuit to overcome the social stigma associated with menstruation in our country, The Pink Box developed a unique subscription product at the beginning of 2020. “By delivering wide ranges of feminine hygiene products to women’s quickly, easy and discreetly, our ultimate goal is to build women’s confidence and to have hassle-free monthly supplies at their doorsteps,” says Masiat Jahin, the founder and CEO of The Pink Box.

Masiat is a self-taught MUA and a beauty blogger who is passionate about instilling confidence in women -- not just through makeup and beauty, but through the acceptance of female hygiene as well. As the thought developed, she crafted The Pink Box. “While eliminating the taboo, the initiative also intends to be an inexpensive feminine hygiene product that one can gift to themself every month,” said Masiat.

The price of the box? Tk999 per month. Might seem expensive to many, but it really isn’t if you see the assortments inside the box. If you open the box, you’ll find sanitary napkins, and panty liners -- designed to prevent any sort of leakage. Intended to relief the customer's pain and cravings, the box also comes with -- fruity green tea, Kernel Crunch Popcorn, Toblerone chocolates, sheet masks, mini hot water bag, paper soap sheets and Vaseline lip care therapy. One can get all these delivered to one’s doorstep every month at just less than Tk1,000.

Elaborating on the thought behind the box, Masiat said: “We hope that this will provide customers the freedom to choose products that suit their individual needs, financially and physically.” The options in the box can be customized according to customers’ preferences as well. To place an order, one can go to their Instagram or Facebook page. To simplify the ordering process, one can also surf website, where one has to fill out the mailing credentials, and provide some basic information. This will help one to customize the box according to their needs.

Stemming from concerns about female hygiene and how it’s dealt with in the country, The Pink Box started operations after research on the products. On this she said: “Through my personal experience, and with the research on local brands, we use the set of newly launched Senora Ultra Thin Heavy flow pads -- as these pads stands out for their three prime features: Absorption power, leakage rate and, most importantly, comfort”.

The Pink Box aims to eliminate the hassle, eliminate the taboo and encourage clients to love themselves more.
