Bangladeshi film director Kamar Ahmad Simon has been invited to La Fabrique Les Cinémas du Monde.
The professional program was created to favour the emergence of new talents in the countries of the Southern hemisphere. It was organised by the Institut Français, in partnership with the International Organisation of La Francophonie and France Médias Monde – composed of the public broadcasters RFI, Monte Carlo Doualiya, and France 24. The French embassy of Bangladesh issued the press release on Tuesday.
Located at the heart of the Festival de Cannes’ international village, the pavilion is a unique venue dedicated to filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.
As a platform for working and networking opportunities, it has become the place to be for artists, professionals and international institutions seeking information on world cinema during the festival.
Les Cinémas du Monde, with the support of the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the Embassy of France in Bangladesh, will be pleased to welcome Kamar Ahmad Simon, director of Shankhadhoni, during the upcoming Festival de Cannes, from May 14-24, 2014.
Correction: We mistakenly reported earlier that a completed film by Kamar was selected for Festival de Cannes. Actually, the director was invited after he won a competition for young directors with his upcoming film Shankhadhoni. The director himself clarified this information to the Dhaka Tribune.
