The splendour of Bangladesh in different aspects and angles have been portrayed through the works of a bunch of young photographers who are displaying their talents in an ongoing exhibition titled “Colours of Bangladesh.” The three-day show, organised by Amateur Photography Bangladesh, will continue till 8pm today at the Drik Gallery.
A total of 82 photographs by 75 photographers are being displayed at the gallery. The theme of the exhibition is “colours” and the subject was open to all the aspiring photographers in the context of Bangladesh.
A participant, Rifat J Eusufzani, has captured a divine moment of praying during Bishwa Ijtema (global congregation of Muslims) in his piece “Munajat.” Interestingly the photo portrays people praying on a moving train. “I took the photo in a moving train, where people were praying to Allah at the final phase of the congregation. A moment like this is hard to find.”
Farhana Jabin’s street photography “I am Not Alone” shows the companionship between a human and nature. According to her, a human being is never alone since the person is always accompanied by nature.
Riduanul Islam Riduan has presented a nostalgic moment in his photo titled “Wish to Hold” where a man holding an umbrella amidst rain. Riduan shares: “In the rain, most of the time, we cherish the best days from our memory.”
Tutul Chowdhury’s “Shekol” satires the urban lifestyle of the current society where the children are deprived of playgrounds and open sky. The photograph shows a child behind the bars of a window of a modern apartment.
Also, the photographs are displayed in a beautiful manner in the gallery where these are segmented on the basis of the dominating colours.
