Update : 18 Aug 2013, 04:38 PM

The very first toy museum in the country, Dhaka Museum of Toys was inaugurated on August 16, making Dhaka the location of Asia’s third such gallery after Singapore’s Mint and Bangkok’s BatCat. Highlighting the personal collection of Saadi Rahman, the founder, the aim of opening this museum was to bring the country’s pop culture aficionados together. Saadi Rahman, an avid collector of toys, started his accumulation from a very young age.

Along with Saadi’s personal collection, the museum will showcase toys from other collectors in the city every month, featuring items from the early 1960’s to present.

Saadi Rahman was the brains behind the first ever comic-con in Bangladesh. With help from other collectors, Saadi’s dream of having a comic-con in Bangladesh was realized in 2012. Due to the astounding response generated by the convention, interest in the comic book culture in Dhaka soared.

The museum has on display, countless super hero figurines such as Batman, Thor, X-Men and many other characters from popular TV series, including “Dexter,” “Lost” and “Battlestar Glactica." The display is attractive for people of all ages, as these superheroes have kept everyone fascinated for quite some time now.

Dhaka Museum of Toys is open for visitors everyday from 11:00am-8:00pm and is located at:

12 (old), Mymensingh Road, (new) 25,26,27, Kazi Nazrul Islam Ave, Banglamotor Bhaban, 1st floor, Dhaka.
