Update : 11 Jun 2013, 04:22 AM

In the Kibria printmaking studio of Dhaka Art Centre, solo print exhibition of AH Dhali is going on as a part of a series of exhibitions of individual artists, held by the studio.

The prints are taken by etching, intaglio and relief print making process. Dhali, being purely a print maker, has revealed his proficiency and attributes through these artworks.

Most of the works are black and white or mono-print, some are sepia and greenish in colour.

Relief print and etching colours are very important, as orthodox method says to take print in single colour for preserving the integrity of the print.

Dhali has experimented with fine lines, dots in forming figures, with shades in relief technique with more than one colour. His choice of subject for his compositions is goat.

“It’s only a cognisant decision that I have chosen goat, I could have chosen ox or bull instead, but that is not the main factor as all animals are commonly seen in the agro-economic society of our country. It’s a subjective choice that I made, within my comfort zone. My area of experimentation is the playfulness I wanted to render through a metal tool, by making incision in wood or metal plate,” says Dhali.

In most of the prints he has successfully depicted the finesse by creating gradation in colour with fine lines of different magnitudes and also has shown technique to create the vive of a painting through print which is indeed an achievement of a print maker.

In the series of exhibitions, Dhali’s solo is the second one in display, the previous one was of eminent artist Wkilur Rahman. The third exhibition will be of Biren Shom, the artist is preparing for the show.
