A new book featuring creative pieces by Bangladeshi writers aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence. Entitled Golden: Bangladesh At 50, the book will be edited by fiction writer Shazia Omar and published by University Press Limited.

From the liberation of the nation to the loneliness of the pandemic, these stories and poems, by writers at home and abroad, offer a fresh look at Bangladesh as the country celebrates its golden jubilee. Through train rides and birthday cakes, triumphs and betrayals, love and loss and magic, they offer us a glimpse into the vastness of what it means to be Bangladeshi, says a press release.
