The prestigious Anannya Shahitya Puroshkar 2019 was awarded to author and researcher Dr. Akimun Rahman on January 5,at Bangladesh National Museum, where Chief Guest Poet Asad Chowdhury and Special Guest Professor Begum Akhter Kamal were present to grace the occasion. The program was chaired by Tasmima Hossain, Editor of Anannya.
The recipient of this special literary award for women, Dr. Akimun Rahman, was born in Narayanganj in 1960. She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies from Dhaka University, later completing her Ph.D under Dr. Humayun Azad. Among her notable works, Bibi Theke Begum, Shonar Khorkuto, Purusher Prithibite Ek Meye, Nirontor Purush Bhabna, Jokhon Ghashera Amar Boro and Nogonno Manobi etc. are worth mentioning. Alongside her literary and research pursuits, she is also pursuing a successful teaching career at East West University.
Since 1993, the prestigious award is given annually to a prominent female litterateur for her contribution to literature and research.
