A laid-back week indeed

Update : 11 Aug 2016, 10:50 PM

Firstly, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the families of all the victims of the recent suicide bomb attack at a hospital in Pakistan. At the time of writing this, 70 people have been confirmed dead and over 50 injured, and the authorities fear a rise in the death toll. What has this world come to?

On a brighter note, for the first time in weeks, there is finally a lot of positivity in our local headlines.

Law enforcement agencies have made immense progress in solving the case regarding the perpetrators of the July 1 attack in Holey Artisan Bakery.

Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus was invited to Rio de Janeiro, to bear the Olympic torch in the final leg of the torch relay on Friday, July 5.

In a video posted by Prof Yunus, selfies were being taken with him and he was being showered with love.

While on the topic of Olympics, we have our own Olympians who will be competing this year. If you’d like to know who they are, feel free to Google them. I wholeheartedly wish them all the best.

On the other hand, the flood situation has also improved over the last week, however, certain parts still require rehabilitation and relief.

Though I am not a massive cricket fan, when I hear of one of our tigers performing well, I can’t help but partake in the joy. Shakib Al Hasan due to his outstanding performance has helped his team clinch the win at the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

With so many good things, I would like to add to that joy with, you guessed it! Jokes!

What’s the definition of bigamy? One wife too many. What’s the definition of monogamy? Same bloody thing!

Most people have OCD. I have ADSO. Attention Deficit Shiny Object!

If you rearrange the letters of the word MARRIAGE around, it says “A GRIM ERA.” Met a guy once, he said he was married for 20 years. I asked him how do you cope? He said: “I go home and play my wedding video backwards. See myself walk out of the church a free man.”

For most children growing up here, the worst time was when you’d be in your house, playing with your friends or cousins and your tutor would show up. I didn’t have either, friends or tutors. Had to play with dad. He played “beat the kid” because I played “didn’t do my homework.”

If there is a will, there is "a lot of relatives."

I am addicted to video games. In fact, so much that I barely left my house. The few times I did leave my house, I was playing Sims.

If Saudi Arabia ever wanted American super heroes to help them, Power Rangers would be their choice. Why? Even the men dress MODESTLY in that team.

I am not very fond of children. One of the many reasons is because they ask too many questions, as you’ll see in this example.Kid: Why did the chicken cross the road? Me: To get to the other side. Kid: Well when the chicken crossed the road, did the chicken look to the right, then left, then right again? Me: (already getting agitated) Yes it did! Kid: But if the chicken already looked right, then left, why did it look right again? Me: (ticked off) The chicken had stupid parents, who thought vehicles come mostly from the right. Kid: Really? My parents tell me to do the same thing. Are they stupid? Me: No man! Kid: Are the chicken's parents stupid then? Me: NO! Kid: Then, how did the chicken cross the road?

Facepalm!
