Following murder of two brothers at a busy intersection at Pasrur by two unidentified men in police uniform on Monday, their relatives and other locals staged a protest demo against police, blocking the Karachi Road for traffic.
As per police sources, Naeemur Rahman, his brother Muhammad Muzammil and former’s son Abdul Rehman, were in a car at Chowk Khokhran, when two unidentified armed men in police uniform opened fire on them.
As a result, both brothers died on the spot, while Abdul Rehman, survived the attack unhurt.
Following the double-murder, the relatives of the deceased men and other locals placed the dead bodies on the Karachi Road and staged a strong protest against local police.
The protesters also burnt used tyres, blocking both tracks of the road for traffic and raised slogan against the police.
Abdul Rehman, who was among the protesters, told the media that earlier in 2021 four of his relatives were murdered by their rivals. He said that the FIR of the four murders was registered on 21 February, 2021 at Pasrur Sadar Police Station.
He deplored that none of the accused nominated in the FIR could be arrested despite passage of three years, alleging that the police were conniving with the the influential accused party.
He said that the accused party had been hurling threats of dire consequences at his father and uncle for pursuing the case. He added that his father and uncle had informed the police about the threats, but the police, but of no avail.
The protesters initially insisted that they would not end their protest until Punjab IGP himself visit the scene and refused to hold talks withPasrur Deputy Superintendent of Police Rana Shehbaz.
However, after negotiations with Sialkot Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Jawad Ishaq and on an assurance regarding immediate arrest of the accused, they ended the protest.
