Five killed in road accidents

Five people were killed in three separate road accidents in Bhola, Faridpur and Magura in the last three days.

In Bhola, a motorcyclist and his co-rider were killed as his bike collided with a bus at College Para in Lalmohan upazila on Friday morning, reports our correspondent. The deceased were Khalil, 30, and Momin, 32, of Tajimuddin upazila.

Witnesses said the accident took place when a Bhola-bound bus hit the bike at Pourasava Gate around 8:15am, killing the duo on the spot.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital.

In Faridpur, an official of Rab was killed in a road accident in Shibrampur area of Sadar upazila on Thursday, reports our correspondent. The deceased was Farukh Khan, 45, a sub-inspector of Rab 6 in Jhenidah and he hailed from Rajbari district.

Traffic Police Sergeant Tuhin Laskar of Faridpur said a private car collided with a motorcycle of Faruk at noon while he was returning to his workplace after celebrating Eid-ul-Azha with his family members, leaving him injured.

Locals rescued Farukh and sent him to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The body was later handed over to the family after the post mortem examination at the hospital.

In Magura, a youth was killed in a bike crash on Balidia road in Mohammadpur upazila on Friday morning, reports UNB. The deceased was Iqbal Shikder, 18, of Balidia village.

Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur police station Monirul Islam said the accident took place when a moving motorcycle hit Iqbal around 9am as he was standing on the road.

Locals recovered Iqbal and took him to the Mohammadpur Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

A case was filed in this regard.
