At least 150 people, including women, were injured in a clash between two neighbouring villages at Modon municipality of Netrokona Saturday.
Equipped with locally-made weapons, residents of Jahangeerpur village and Modon village attacked each other around 9:30am, said banglanews24.
The clash lasted till 1pm when police brought situation under control.
Locals said the clash erupted when news spread that some students of Jahangeerpur village had been threatened by students from the Modon village centring a student demonstration at Modon Abdul Aziz Degree College.
Police personnel deployed in the area fired several blank rounds to disperse the fighting crowd, they said.
Among the injured, Osman, Enamul, Titu and Romel were sent to the Mymensing Medical College Hospital while others to the Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital and Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Modon police station Kamrul Alam Molla said as the situation began to spin out of control, additional riot police were brought from Netrokona.
Later, Jahangeerpur residents staged a demonstration against police protesting their role during the fight.
ASP Abdul Momen could not clearly explain why the villagers have been demonstrating against them.
