Update : 30 Aug 2013, 04:12 PM

Heavy downpour with tidal surges from Kopotaksho river inundated five villages in Keshabpurupazila, marooning over 500 families.

The inundated villages are Sagardhari, Sheikhpura, Awalgati, Nehalpur and Mohadebpur.

Though the affected people are leading inhuman life for want of food, they are yet to get any relief from the government.

KM Khalilur Rahman, chairman of Bidyanandakati union, expressed his concerns that 10 villages may go under water if the incessant rain continues.

He said diarrhoea has already broken out in Awalgati and Nehalpur village for want of pure drinking water.

Farmer Tuhin Miah of Awalgati village said Sheikpara area of the village went under waist-deep water, causing sufferings to the local people.
