A mobile court, yesterday, sealed off a sweetmeats factory for producing and serving food items in an unhygienic environment at Fatikchhari upazila in Chittagong.
The owner of the factory was also fined Tk5,000.
The court conducted the drive at Bibirhat area of the upazila, where it found that Puspokoli Misti Bitan was producing and serving sweetmeats in an unhygienic environment.
The court then sealed the factory and fined the owner Tk5000, who in default will have to serve three months in prison, said the magistrate. Apart from that, the court also fined two restaurants Tk7,000 and Tk2,000 respectively on the same charge. AKM Azharul Islam, assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate, led the court.
