Of all the things in the world, if your biggest woe is commuting to your university, raise your hand. This commuting calamity arises from a number of reasons ranging from the incessant Dhaka traffic to some of the institutions being located on the outskirts of the city.
Waking up early to catch the bus only to sit next to people who unfortunately don't have a working knowledge of personal hygiene or incessantly bargaining with obnoxious CNG drivers can be a total drag. Even travelling in the luxury of your own car, listening to your favourite song may seem frustrating. To make matters worse, sometimes despite all your effort and the tribulations and sacrificing your sleep you may still not be on time. All these are only the part and parcel of living in Dhaka city so the only thing you can do is to learn to deal with it because you would be a fool to expect your university to be considerate towards you. We feel you though, if that helps.
Kill the boredom
In a city where it takes an hour to reach a destination that shouldn't otherwise take more than 15 minutes, it is a no-brainer that you will have to spend a good amount of time stuck in traffic. Instead of fuming in anger or dozing off, you can utilizes this time. Go through your notes and slides and brush up on what has been taught recently. You can keep an e-Book version of your textbook in your phone and flip through it. If the thought of studying is making you cringe, you can always jazz things up with a fun playlist. Try to include songs that will pump up your mood and steer away from slow depressing songs that will remind you of your ex. As if being stuck in traffic isn't depressing enough.
Travel smart
Don't you hate those days when your chauffeur is off enjoying his brother-in-law's niece's wedding leaving you in a world of misery? Of course there is the option of public transport but you can also consider carpooling. If you have a friend who lives nearby and goes to your university we probably didn't even have to tell you this. For those who are not as lucky try to be on the lookout for someone from your university who lives in the same area. This may sound like its borderline stalking but hear us out. Try to inquire from your friends if they have a friend that matches your criteria. If things work out in a case of emergency they can always be there to help you out. It won't cost them anything extra and they won't mind helping out someone. But if they seem weird, run. Or take a bus.
