Right after the launch of iPhone 7 and 7s the company announced that MacOS Sierra, the latest version of Apple’s desktop operating systems, is now available as a free update. It came up with some amazing new features and can be easily downloaded from the Mac App Store.Finally Siri In Mac:Siri is finally up on the Mac platform through the Sierra update. Apple was kind of falling behind Microsoft and Google, both of whom placed voice-controlled artificial intelligence on their own desktop operating systems. Apple made up for it by placing it in lots of places on the Mac. The AI can help users multitask and send messages and emails, find documents, look for information, search user’s photo library, adjust system preferences and perform a whole lot of other miscellaneous tasks. The Siri results can be dragged and dropped into a document or even be pinned into the Today view for future reference.The Artificial Intelligence is extraordinary and can respond very well to complex queries. If you ask to find the Photos you took at home or the word files you worked upon in the last 7 days- Siri will do exactly that for you.Safer Transaction through Apple Pay:The safest and most convenient payment system- Apple Pay is now available on the web ensuring a secure and better online shopping experience on the Safari browser. You can check out now without having to enter your credit card numbers. You can simply click the Apple Pay button on the shopping sites and complete the purchase with Touch ID on your iPhone or by double-clicking the side button on your Apple Watch. As a result, your information is stored on Apple servers instead of being shared with the merchants.Photos Curated By Memories:Mac now has Memories which was already available on a few other platforms. Memories can automatically create curated collections of occasions like birthday parties or family vacations and create stunning slide-shows out of your pictures. The new powerful technology allows delivering improved face recognition, displaying all your photos on a world map and lets you search photos by the object or scenery in them.iClouds Drive In Sierra:All your files on your desktop and in documents folder will now be automatically stored and updated in iCloud Drive, freeing up memory on your system. This feature called Optimized Storage will ensure you have ample space left on your device. The folders stored in iCloud can be synced to other devices- Mac, iPhones, iPods touch or iPads. Any edits you make from one device can be finished off in another too. One major drawback is- you will either have to sync all the contents or nothing at all- there’s no option of selecting individual files.There are other amazing features linked to messaging, iTunes, Tabs, etc. In general, Sierra is indeed a great update. The fact that the update is free- is making it more amazing. But eventually, if you want to use all of its amazing new features, you will have to purchase iCloud storage. The free 5 GB storage Apple is providing will not be enough for most users. There is scope for more improvement and Apple will definitely be bringing them soon enough.
