e-GP displayed at Digital World 2017

Update : 12 Dec 2017, 07:29 PM
The electronic government procurement (e-GP) system, an online service that facilitates electronic tender and e-contract management, was on display at the Digital World 2017 tech expo. A large-scale live display on the e-GP system was arranged at the stall of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka, where the fair was held until December 9. The digitisation of public procurement is a high priority on the agenda of the present government. Since its introduction in 2011, a total 1,177 procuring agencies out of 1,300 had registered with the e-GP system as of December 7, 2017. The system witnessed significant growth in this period, as it was welcomed by both bidders and procuring entities. The Central Procurement Technical Unit of IMED, under the Ministry of Planning, is implementing the e-GP system in Bangladesh with support from World Bank. The Project Management Information System (PMIS) developed by IMED was also displayed at their stall. Until December 7, a total 131,654 tenders worth Tk 120,480 crore had been invited through the e-GP system.
