Update : 05 Jan 2017, 05:51 PM
The Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) on Thursday offered an explanation as to why internet users in th country have been facing trouble with their connections since mid December of last year. "The daily internet usage has exceeded 400 Gbps in Bangladesh and more than 75% of the bandwidth is imported from India," ISPAB said in a media release. The release also pointed to the i2i submarine telecommunications cable connecting India and Singapore. "The internet supply has been facing glitches since one of the eight fibre pairs of the cable got cut during a cyclone in India’s Chennai on December 13," ISPAB said, adding that it does not expect to restore the cable line until January 20.
